Between Lisbon and Cascais (YogaEmotion & Yogitos retreats)

The Portuguese word for beach is "Praia". Following beaches are sorted by the distance in kilometers to Lisbon old town, in minutes depending on the public transport available could vary.

The most recommended way to reach these beaches is with the Lisbon urban train ("Combois de Portugal") and the Cascais Line, very easy way to move through Lisbon and Cascais, because the start and final stations are Cais do Sodré and Cascais, without connection with other lines or destinations, so very easy to get where you want. Following link you have the timetable and stations in within:

  • Praia de Santo Amaro de Oeiras (aprox. 25 min.): nearest beach from Lisbon city centre, with long sandy beach with some restaurants and other places near the beach. Just 25 minutes by train from Lisbon, the train stop is Santo Amaro (less than 5 minutes walking from the beach or Oeiras aprox. 10 minutes). Perfect for: nearest beach in time and kilometres from Lisbon.

  • Praia de Carcavelos (aprox. 30 min.): another with long sang beach, from the train station Carcavelos you need aprox. 10 minutes on foot to the beach. The São Julião da Barra is on one side of the beach, worth to visit as well. You will find some bars right on the beach, perfect for having a nice drink. Perfect for: best spot near Lisbon and Cascais for surfing, there are some surfing schools and if you are a beginner the "Praia da Torre" is your spot, just in the other side of the fortress.

  • Praia do Tamariz (aprox. 38 min.): the sand beach of Estoril, just less than 200 meters from the train station Estoril. Lots of fish restaurants nearby and many other options if you want more than just a beach day. Perfect for: to visit the Estoril Casino or the fortress "Forte da Cruz".

  • Praia da Conceição (aprox. 40 min.): the longest beach white sand beach in Cascais town and just a few meters from the train station Cascais and many other points of interest and restaurants, supermarkets... and sometimes is the place where we have our Yoga Emotion classes depending of the students. Perfect for: if you do not want to move too far from Cascais in order to enjoy a long beach.

Praia da Rainha (aprox. 42 min.): probably the most beautiful small sand beach in town, just in the middle of Cascais old town and 10 meters below the sea promenade. The small cliffs and rocks make from this place even a more impressive place. Just need to be careful with the sea tide, since with high tide there will be not so much sand for lying down. Perfect for: enjoy the beautifulness.

  • Praia dos Pescadores (aprox. 45 min.): the beach for our yoga and acroyoga classes, and as well the nearest one to our retreat. Small sand beach just in the middle of Cascais old town and perfect for all day long, but especially for sunset, it is one of the most breathtaking sunsets that we have ever seen and just 3 minutes away walking from our retreat. Perfect for: our yoga and acroyoga classe or to have a walk during your stay in our retreats.
